Whatsittoya? ^0) I bought a cheap stainless stockpot that would be swell to use as a waterbath canner, but it needs a rack for the bottom. If I have two racks, I can stack the jars (rack between the jar layers). It needs to be a fairly close fit on the inside of the kettle and straight across the top and the wires close enough together so that a jar sitting at the edge won't tip into an empty space between the wires.
I think a round sheet of metal with holes drilled would be good, too. Someone suggested that; I haven't had time to pursue it because I've been too busy -- canning. :-0)
You. Oh, wait -- you said 'right mind'. (Did you have fun? I'm leaving in the morning for Manhattan and Vermont. The University High School Clbutt of 1963 turns 60 this year (June 25; your gift never got here, BTW) and Dinah has invited some of the women to come for the weekend. I think about 6 of us are coming from Mpls, DC, Brooklyn. I believe our plan is to eat. Oink. I shipped about 8 jars of jam and jar of prize-winning pickles to her today so I don't have to schlep them.) Will spend a couple days on either end of the weekend with a net friend in Manhattan.
