I've been reading this thread, lurking..but I have to chime in...being an American citizen is not a euphemistic phrase...it's a legal term with a very well defined meaning. Living here, taking advantage of the nations "infrastructure", obligates you to follow the rules voted into law by the majority (with certain protections for the minority). It is very simple. You have some options if you disagree with whatever law you happen to have a problem with. You can work within the system to change it if you feel that the majority voice is somehow not being heard or try and change the majority's atbreastude.
Or you can move to a place with social policy more in line with your own. People have been doing that for as long as there have been humans on this planet. There's nothing wrong with that....
But there's no obligation at all to show you a moral requirement...you can feel however you want to about it. It is however a legal requirement. And there's nothing "implied" about it...your obligations while living in this country are very well defined.
Light Rail Coming Soon 1323The metro ran for 20 years with the Blue line not running to Washington National. It wasn't until after the Yellow line was built to northern VA was the Blue line moved, and a station...
It's just the way it is....and by the way, these things have been submitted for your approval: every election day, everytime there's an chance to run for an elective office, everytime there's a open school board seat, everytime you feel like publishing your views in print...on and on, you have the chance to affect social policy in this country and to voice your approval (or lack of).
This just may not be the best place for airing your views unless your just looking for attention...
