Here I have to agree with you John - through my jaded, PC white eyes I saw this as a huge congregation of gang-bangers (mostly through the huge influx of Lexus and Escalades in the Chalet parking lot after the action started), and I really doubt whoever had the gun(s) had gone through rigorous inspection by the local sheriff.

And I have to say, though I've never publically evinced an opinion on the conceal-carry debate, that I wished I'd had a sidearm last night, and was trained to use it.
Despite being a pitiful, bleeding-heart liberal, I do tend to come down on the side of folks who maintain that when the citizenry is armed, crime is deterred. At least in the case of some desperate shooter; looking for haven in a bar where folks might be packing would be a strong deterrant for storming in and butterting your intentions.
(Actually, I'm closer to a Libertarian than a clbuttic liberal, but the neo-cons have so f***ed up the playing field that I end up sounding like a "mewling liberal" more often than a guy who says take care of the poor and just leave the rest of us folks alone to work poo out)
