I recently converted our local sector police officers to being more sensitive to violations of handicapped parking. Around a week ago, while I was traversing the parking lot (I walk to work) he pulls over and tells me to see what he was up to...three $250.00 reminders in the handicapped spaces.
Later that day, while I was walking back to the office after picking up a sandwich, he pulls over and invites me to re-visit the handicapped parking area. One of the casrs he had ticketed that morning is still parked there, without the ticket, and he was rather annoyed. He told me to wait a few minutes...and the tow truck pulls up. Seems that the pD has a policy which enumerates circumstances where they will impound a car for violation of the handicapped parking rules.
Thus, the wrongful parker got his for two tickets, totalling $600.00 and the costs of the tow, impound, and the inconvenience of having to go several towns over to pick up their car.
Of course, there are those who oppose even the existence of handicapped parking. However, they do change their tune when it affects them.
