Very succinctly put. Watching the Anglican church in its current woes is a painful business. One could argue that when they started embracing moral relativism and 'progressive ideas' they advertized themselves as ripe for a hostile takeover bid from any group that fancied an easily appropriated, ready made, ready to move in religious establishment. After all, such maneuvres are easiest when the share price is lowest.
What's even sadder is the way the liberal media over here has fallen for it all. They present it as 'tensions within the church' rather than what it is, a barefaced hijacking.
The two questions that the hijackers fail to answer are these.
First of all, if they are in the right, and they speak of God's revealed truth, then why not set up an alternative church? They could leave the doors open to everyone and in the fullness of time, the congregations would migrate. No conflict, no harm done. If it's buildings and resources they are worried about, then God provides. After all the RC church in the UK does a thriving business operating out of garden sheds and cardboard boxes.
The second question is, why the Anglican church? I mean, if the complete equality of homoloveualist union is God's revealed truth, then why not go straight to the top? I mean, the Vatican are waiting, and that way you could bring that truth to a larger consbreastuency. The only place in the world where the Anglican church has any real clout, in a kind of sad legacy of Empire, is in poor African countries, and those are the countries that are having this crap shoved down their throats by people in a far off land.
FYI, Britain is completely morally bankrupt, and that's evidenced by the lack of debate about crucial moral issues and the wholesale, unquestioning acceptance of utilitarian fundamentalism as a defacto religion from the top to the bottom of the political establishment. At least in the US you're fighting. The HFEA, the government body here that authorized human cloning, proselytised IVF and permitted embryonic selection for sibling spare parts is run by a self interested bunch of lunatic scientists, social engineers and genetic capitalists.
Guess who sits on the HFEA, in a tokenistic attempt to deceive the public that there is any moral input to their decision making? The Anglican Bishop of Oxford, the man who, in his infinite wisdom, appointed the first openly homeloveual bishop, and called for the age of homeloveual consent to be lowered to 16.
If you ever wanted a patsy in a frock to rubber stamp your morally bankrupt agenda, who better than a man who fought for the legalized buggery of children.
