Weber) I believe you are right about this thing. A two thirds vote would be needed to override a veto. In addition to the need to override a presidential...

Who were those who signed the H.J 22 resolution to make sure that the SS trust fund could be spent as part of the budget of outlays not exceed receipts (which in 1997 specifically included the money going into the trust fund and buttume that is what they mean here too

See way below as to who the "who" are..

AARP Alternative 2714
No, perhaps I was not clear. A one month supply at local pharmacy cost $40. A 3 month supply...

A way to get around the laws which keep them from including SS excess dollars in the process of calling something a balanced budget. And a way to try to make SS appear fallaciously to be a crisis several decades sooner than the current non crisis point of 2042. Where if left alone, just goes out further and further all on it's own each year. But once they get the so called balanced budget amendment pbutted, not only do they then be able to legally budget the SS money as part of a so called balanced budget, but if it ends up like it did in 1997 makes it hard to use the trust fund money reserved for SS unless they balance the budget each year.

So let's see Medicare 2026 to a higher number? No. They create an artificial crisis point which can be tightened even more any year they want, to 2009. Exactly when the next administration winning in 2004 leaves office. All that as planned with the 2006 date for the drug bill set just late enough so that people would not be getting the bad news in late 2004 if it were to start in 2005.

And they create a new crisis point in the beginning of 2009 (says Dec 31 2008) . Also a number designed to make it easy to default on SS more than 3 decades before even conservative estimates indicates a shortfall. . That is the entire idea of the BBA. Make it easier to steal the SS money in the near term by allowing the excess to be counted on the in side, and then make it harder for people to get paid from the trust fund. after that.

And let's see. They just voted for an increase in unfunded Medicare liability of 6 to 7 trillion dollars for a useless drug program - Corporate welfare escapade.

And yet at minimum of most, if not closer to almost all of those pretenders of being for a balanced budget, just jammed , stampeded, ram roded, steam rollered, and crammed down the throats of the American taxpayers and seniors. All that new deficit, debt and unfunded liability.

No, it would be very difficult to be able to buttume that those BBA ers are interested in a balanced budget. They do not do what they pretend to be for. What they do is vote for the biggest expansion of Medicare in history, as an add on deficit to the swichover from a 5 trillion dollar 10 yr surplus to the approximated 5 trillion dollar deficit. All in just 3 years.

It those congressional rotten apples even think about trying to blame SS or Medicare on their outrageous attempts to bust the U..S financial system best they can, I would hope that people would catch on that.. And speak up.

That is whey I asked Russ if he had seen anything new since the activity in March to June in this year. If the congressional financial - SS rotten apple are trying to pretend they are for a balanced budget? All one has to do is look up who voted for the budget busting, benefit reducing, Medicare long range attack provisions called the Medicare drug bill. The bill from hell.

The bill the AARP - et tu AARPers, the Judas - AARP ers , the anti senior SS - Medicare AARPers. The ones who are extra troublesome because Many in congress used the AARP as an excuse to claim seniors were for the bill. When the information to the contrary. .

WHO were the H.J res 22 ers? Who are the who in that item.?

123 congress people. All of whom are Republicans as best I could see.

On Thu, 11 Dec 2003 23:19:31 GMT, Rita Yes. Absolutely. That is what big money is...

And since only about 21 to 23 or so (was 23 before the last arm twisting) , voted against the budget, deficit , debt, unfunded liability budget busting black hole drug bill, ---that leaves a minimum of about a 100 rotten apples who are inconsistent in addition. . Who will vote to break the county's finances, with zero financial integrity - responsibility, and with senseless spending to the hilt.

Would need to compare how many of the 21 to 23 or so, of the good republicans were on the list of 123.? That would tell us immediately who is for budget busting deficit increase and SS blame shifters , and who is at least shows some consistency by voting against the drug bill giveaways to the HMOs . . Maybe some one might want to post the two lists ? 123 who signed H.J -- 22 , and the list of 21 to 23 or so brave Republicans "who" at least showed they knew something about finances. Even if some of them might even not be for Medicare either. And could easily show up on other not so good lists.

I know there are seniors who need help paying for prescription drugs. And I have long wanted some relief for them. But this bill is not...

And "who" are the ones that are quick to try to blame and try to eliminate the very solvent SS system. Using their budget busting fiascos to try to blame SS- Medicare, as if that was not the reason for the mbuttive unbalanced current budgets. And which even that(the deficit - debt) they distort. By mostly not including the SS money. When they falsely state the deficits and debt increases, so as to help disguise some of their financial spending horror shows..

We should be able to see who the Medicare busting and Budget busting , elected official scoundrels are. Just by looking at who voted for the bill.

In addition to the large number of Republicans, there are some Democrats in both the House and the Senate. More so in the Senate. Enough so that the Democrats could easily have held up the Filibuster , or the more easily Senate broken rules vote. Which lost by only two votes. One of which came in only after Sen Lott switched his vote to make it lose.

If they were not so strongly in favor of the Medicare wrecker side of things. all they had to do was vote it down. But instead they helped the Republicans, and the middle of the night arm twisting president , vote it up.

If one does not want to change parties, the least one might consider is who to vote for in the primaries.

Either for or against the incumbents depending on who voted for the black hole drug bill from hell . The one with the Medicare doomsday machine in it. The one that busts the budgets and provides little that could not have been provided in much cheaper ways.

And in ways that could be the beginning of the end to both SS and Medicare.
